SCH SALUTES: Nurse Practitioners
National Nurse Practitioner Week is held annually in November to celebrate these exceptional health care providers and the valuable services they provide in our hospital and clinics. Now in its 50th year, this week celebrates the more than 200,000 nurse practitioners licensed to practice in the United States.
WHAT IS A NURSE PRACTITIONER?
Nurse practitioners are licensed, expert clinicians – most have Master’s degrees, and many have doctorate degree and extensive clinical preparation to provide primary and specialty services. Nurse practitioners emphasize the health and well-being of the whole person in their approach, including helping patients make educated health care decisions and healthy lifestyle choices.
