WIGGINS, MS – Stone County Hospital (SCH) is currently undergoing many changes and additions that will benefit both employees and patients. The most current additions are their new Gastroenterology providers, Stephen E. Buckley, M.D., and Susan Wallace, MSN, and Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C).

Dr. Buckley, a Wiggins native, has extensive experience in Gastroenterology and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He received his Bachelor of Science in Polymer Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed his residency, served a year as Chief Resident, and his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of South Alabama. Also, Dr. Buckley is a published author in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Contemporary Internal Medicine, and Digestive Diseases and Sciences.

Susan Wallace is a Hattiesburg native who earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1995.  She began her nursing career at Wesley Medical Center in 1996, working in the Cardiovascular Recovery Unit and the Intensive Care Unit.  She left Wesley Medical Center in 2011 to pursue higher education.  Susan achieved her Master’s degree in Nursing from Mississippi University for Women in July of 2012.  She is a member of the Mississippi Nurse’s Association and the Association of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.


Dr. Buckley and Ms. Wallace will provide these new Gastroenterology services to give patients better insight and treatments of gastrointestinal areas such as the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon and rectum, pancreas, gallbladder, bile ducts, and liver.
